Great Stroke: Cottongame Gets 5 Hits Monday, August 19th, 2041 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. Braxton Cottongame is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Vermont Lake Monsters at Monster Field today. The monster effort from the 24-year-old first baseman helped the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes take the win, 10-5. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Lake Monsters manager Juan Rodríguez. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." Braxton Cottongame hit a GRAND SLAM off Jonathan Jones in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
