Roth Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Wednesday, July 17th, 2041 It takes more than one player to win a baseball game - as proven by Ed Roth of the Memphis Redbirds. The Memphis right fielder gave it his all and dominated Port Royal Disaster pitching today at Lansing Park, finishing with a great 5-for-6 line. However, when the game ended, the scoreboard showed the Disaster going home the winner, 18-15. "There's no point gloating about a 5-hit day in a loss," Roth said later. "A loss just means you should have done more. Maybe I should have hit 5 home runs instead." Ed Roth singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off José Blanco in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
