84s Ayala Out Permanently, Can't Come Back From Injury
Tuesday, October 1st, 2041
Doctors told Juan Jose Ayala at the outset that his injury was potentially career-ending. As it happens, they were right. The Greenville second baseman informed his team that he would have to give up baseball and retire. Ayala's injury, a broken bone in the elbow, was just too severe for him to continue his career as a player. The 35-year-old Ayala told reporters he hopes to remain in baseball in some capacity in the 84s organization.
On the year Ayala is hitting .351 with 59 hits, 1 home run, 21 RBIs, .397 OBP and has scored 26 runs.
