Northern Lions BC Turn Back Nashville, 6-4
|
Thunder Bay withstood an impressive performance by Nashville first baseman Nikolai Volkoff to defeat the Outlaws, 6-4, at Great Northern Field. Volkoff went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jean-Marie Beck picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-5. He struck out 3 in 7.1 innings. Jefferson Suhendro closed the game out for Thunder Bay, earning his 2nd save.
Griffin Woodfinlevine had a big 2-run single for the Northern Lions BC in the bottom of the second inning. With Thunder Bay leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Ramón Flores and stroked the single to left. It was his 25th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Northern Lions BC ahead, 3-0.
"I felt good up there," said Woodfinlevine. "I saw the ball well."
Their 38-53 record puts the Northern Lions BC 9th in the Silver League.
