The Ft. Worth Cattlemen outlasted Dirk Horwedel and the Las Vegas Flamingos, 8-7. Horwedel was impressive in the loss. The Las Vegas center fielder went 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Tom Scots, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 6 runs on 10 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 3-4. Jack Buyse closed the door for Ft. Worth, picking up his 15th save of the year.

Kolby Hay dealt the Flamingos a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Ft. Worth leading 5-4, Hay, who is on pace for 76 RBI this season, hit a 2-1 fastball for a 2-run single.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Hay. "And not try to do too much."

The Cattlemen now own a record of 33-35.
