The San Mateo Dirty Reds downed the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 7-6, at Great Northern Field. The Dirty Reds were led by Kyu-cheol Kye, who captured player of the game honors. San Mateo used the timely hitting of Palaie Gaoteote to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dirty Reds ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Gaoteote told the San Mateo Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
