The Portland Evergreens moved to within one game of the Round 2043 today, downing the Boston Patriots on the road at Dunkin Donuts Park by a score of 2-1. Evergreens left-hander Gerald Orlebar was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Evergreens a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2042.
The result might have been different for Portland, had it not been for Orlando Samundio. The shortstop produced a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Evergreens ahead, 2-1. For the game, Samundio had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We don't have much margin for error now," Patriots manager Tyler Carter said. "We need to figure out the problem and fix it, immediately."
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Cristián Moreno for the Portland Evergreens and Alberto López for the the Boston Patriots.
