The Marquette Miners moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Squirrel Hill Pierogis on the road at Field of the Rawhides by a score of 5-3. Miners right-hander Greg Borges was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Miners a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-5 3L AA Championship.

It could have been a different outcome for Marquette, had it not been for Joseph Wallace, the former first round draft pick . Wallace contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put Marquette up, 1-0.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Borges.
