The Marquette Miners got an exceptional performance from starter Herman Griffin, who silenced the Squirrel Hill offense en route to a 3-0 shutout win in Game 2 of the 3L AA Championship today. The Pierogis could never get a bead on the left-handed Griffin, who threw 8 innings of shutout ball to earn player of the game honors. The Miners now hold a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 series.

The Pierogis had trouble solving Griffin, who surrendered no earned runs on 6 hits over 8 innings.

"Herman was pounding the zone," said Marquette manager Christos Galpin.

The next game is scheduled for Wednesday at Field of the Rawhides. Slated to start are Greg Borges for the Marquette Miners and Paco Gómez for the the Squirrel Hill Pierogis.
