Road Win Lifts Casper to 1-0 Lead in R1
|
The Casper Ghosts faced a tough opponent in Northville Eclipse pitcher Jason Breary, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the SL AA Championship, which they now lead 1-0. The Ghosts won 4-3 at Old-Timers Park, despite the Eclipse getting a strong start from right-hander Breary, who went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run.
Casper used the timely hitting of Cam Lumsden to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ghosts on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're one game closer to our goal," Casper manager José Zamora said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Wilson Tamayo for Casper and Lance Farmer for Northville.
