Humpbacks Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Round 2
|
Despite a great performance by Santa Barbara center fielder James Pike, the Alaskan Humpbacks defeated the Golden Cranes by the score of 7-4 at Sea World today. Pike was 3-4 with 2 home runs to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Humpbacks from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Alaskan now leads the SL AAA Championship 2-0.
Bobby Butterfield, the Alaskan designated hitter, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 4-0, Humpbacks. For the game, Butterfield went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," Alaskan manager John Carney told reporters.
The next game is set to be played Tuesday, September 24th, 2041 at Crane Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Modeste Azagba for the Alaskan Humpbacks and CB Huntington for the the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes.
