Bakersfield Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in R1
|
The Bakersfield Nobles silenced the Forest City Warriors today to move within one game of the Round 2. The Nobles shut out the Warriors by a final score of 3-0 at Jerome Grounds. Bakersfield right-hander Elton Coalan was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Nobles a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 PL AAA Championship.
Omer Yurtseven, the Bakersfield catcher, contributed a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 1-0, Nobles. For the game, Yurtseven was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Bakersfield manager Zach King. "It's usually not just one thing."
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Jerome Grounds. Slated to start are Forest Bell for Forest City and Peer Slooters for Bakersfield.
