Healey, Forest City Start PL AAA Championship Strong with Home Win
The Forest City Warriors started the PL AAA Championship in style today, downing the visiting Bakersfield Nobles at League Park by a score of 8-7 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Warriors designated hitter Derek Healey was named player of the game after he went 2-2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4.

In the bottom of the sixth, Forest City center fielder Pat Carter had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Carter stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 8-5, Forest City. For the game, he went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We got the victory," said Carter. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in Bedford. The scheduled starters for the game are Carlos Vargas for Bakersfield and Forest Bell for Forest City.
