Chiefs Rally Past Seahawks to Claim 1-0 Series Lead
|
The Caldwell Chiefs took the first game of the SL A Championship in dramatic fashion today, topping the Myrtle Beach Seahawks in a ninth-inning, walk-off, 5-4 win. Seahawks right-hander Alan Haas was selected player of the game despite the loss, as he threw 5 innings of shutout ball.
The Chiefs were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when first baseman Kuan Pi turned a first pitch fastball from Carlos Pagán into a 2-run double. The walk-off double sent a roar through the crowd and gave Caldwell a thrilling 5-4 win.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Pi. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Pipers Ballpark. Slated to start are Kwang-sik Kang for Myrtle Beach and Martín Galindo for Caldwell.
