Drabek Handcuffs River Rats, BC Seize 1-0 Advantage in R1
|
The Put-In-Bay BC took the first game of the 3L A Championship in dramatic fashion today, topping the Columbia River Rats with a ninth-inning, walk-off, 1-0 shutout victory. BC pitcher Cecil Drabek was selected player of the game, as he threw 7 innings of shutout ball.\n
Chris P. Bacon was the walk-off hero for Put-In-Bay. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the BC third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This was a good win for us," said Drabek. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are John Boyd for Columbia and Jason Reynolds for Put-In-Bay.
