Pivotal Game Goes to Host Patriots, 4-3
|
The Boston Patriots took the first game of the Round 1 in dramatic fashion today, topping the Hollywood Shredders 4-3 in an extra-inning walk-off win. Patriots right-hander Alberto López was selected player of the game, as he threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Masafumi Kawaguchi came to bat in the bottom of the 18th. Facing Hollywood pitcher Hwa-pyung Yi, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 4-3.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said López.
