Despite a great performance by Ft. Worth starter Allen Werner, the Buffalo White Walkers defeated the Cattlemen by the score of 7-4 at The Cattle Pen today. Werner threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the White Walkers from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Buffalo now leads the Round 1 - .
Buffalo used the timely hitting of Jorge Herrera to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the White Walkers ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Buffalo manager Chris Lau.
