Dirty Reds Rally Past Athletic Club KC to Claim - Series Lead
|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds took the first game of the Silver League Championship in dramatic fashion today, topping the Athletic Club KC in a ninth-inning, walk-off, 4-3 win. Athletic Club KC right-hander Kullervo Hostikka was selected player of the game despite the loss, as he threw 5 innings of shutout ball.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with San Mateo trailing 3-1, Zahid Kashani hit a curveball from Indigo Diaz for a 3-run home run, giving the Dirty Reds the walk-off win.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Kashani told the San Mateo Gazette.
