Third League Championship Game 1 goes to Pittsburgh Thanks to Kenny Aarnoutse

The Pittsburgh Kingfishers are one game away from a sweep after a 3-2 win over the visiting Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Pittsburgh Grounds today. Kingfishers right-hander Kenny Aarnoutse was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. Pittsburgh now holds a - advantage in the best-of- Third League Championship.
Yeow-whye Zhu, who is tied for 6th in the 3L in bases on balls with 11, chipped in for Pittsburgh with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"We were a little off-kilter to start the series, but we're getting things figured out now," Pittsburgh manager Tyler Johnson told reporters. "At least I hope we are."
