Round 1 Game 1 Victory for Jobse and Northern Virginia
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Pittsburgh Kingfishers at Atlantica by a score of 5-2. Rainbow Mermaids right-hander Ton Jobse was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Rainbow Mermaids a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.

In the bottom of the first, Northern Virginia designated hitter Jorge Alejándrez had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Alejándrez stroked a 2-run double to right. It made the score 2-0, Northern Virginia. For the game, he was 2-3 with a double and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI.

"We're happy," Alejándrez told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
