Almost There: Ft. Worth On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 5-2 Win
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen are one game away from a sweep of the D.C. Divided today after a 5-2 road win at Washington Stadium. Cattlemen left-hander Allen Werner was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. Ft. Worth now holds a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
It could have been a different outcome for Ft. Worth, had it not been for Tsuneari Hirano, the 26-year old second baseman . Hirano contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Ft. Worth up, 4-0.
"I don't care a whit about getting a sweep," Werner said. "The only part of it that matters to me is it means we've got a lot of chances to get that last win."
