Game was big. So was Kevin Nogilny.
The New Orleans starter rose to the occasion at Cloverdale Legion Park today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Voodoo to a crucial 4-3 victory over the Kingston Township Knights. Nogilny threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball as the Voodoo won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 1.
It could have been a different outcome for New Orleans, had it not been for Stephen Goldobenko, the 25-year old right fielder . Goldobenko contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put New Orleans up, 3-0.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," New Orleans manager Chase Sims told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
