Dirty Reds Win in Extras
|
Derek Bangert did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Ft. Worth Cattlemen from losing, 5-4, to the San Mateo Dirty Reds at The Cattle Pen. Bangert slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The Dirty Reds, at 23-34, sit in 8th place in the Silver League.
San Mateo used the timely hitting of Richard Edwards to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Dirty Reds ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson. "The effort was great."
