Shredders Knock Off Mockingbirds at Magnolia Park

The Hollywood Shredders topped the Mississippi Mockingbirds by the score of 6-3, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Kanko Umaba. Umaba went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Shredders. Hollywood reliever Larry Benítez was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Todd Denton. Cullen Taylor nailed down his 8th save.
Takeshi Kovacs did the little things right to help the team for Hollywood. The slick-fielding center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring strikeout off Sima Babic. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
"We've got a great group of guys," Kovacs said, "and we're having fun right now."
Hollywood is now 11-6.
