Cattlemen Subdue Dirty Reds, 6-3
|
With designated hitter Derek Bangert leading the charge, the Ft. Worth Cattlemen defeated the San Mateo Dirty Reds, 6-3, at The Cattle Pen. Bangert, who won the Outstanding Hitter Award in 2033, was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Allen Werner picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-2. He struck out 5 in 5 innings. The save went to Jack Buyse, his 12th this season.
With Ft. Worth leading 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Bangert hit a fastball from Justin Frederick for a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Cattlemen ahead, 5-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Bangert told the Ft. Worth News.
The Cattlemen go to 26-29, putting them 7th in the Silver League.
