Fighting Imps Deal Blimps Painful Loss
|
Akron got a terrific performance from center fielder Alohinani Puanani, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ithaca Fighting Imps. Ithaca won the Imps Park contest, 4-3. Puanani was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ithaca occupies last place in the Premier AA at 35-67.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Ithaca trailing 3-2, Andy Hicks hit a fastball from Ramón Sánchez to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Fighting Imps had a walk-off win.
Hicks called the win "a collective effort."
