Blimps Get Road Win, 4-1
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps got a superb performance from pitcher José Flores. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Akron. The Blimps won the game, 4-1. In spite of the loss, Flores was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Randy Ryan, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 1-0. Ramón Sánchez, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities.
Akron used the bat of Pedro Durán to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blimps ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Durán told the Akron Today.
Akron currently is in first place in the Premier AA at 60-40.
