Podmarkov Lifts Sixshooters to 7-2 Win
|
The Westwood Sixshooters stymied the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 7-2, at Mercer Island Grounds. Illarion Podmarkov, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Westwood. Westwood, at 57-42, occupies 4th place in the Premier AA.
Westwood used the timely hitting of Slavik Akentiev to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Sixshooters on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Westwood manager .
