Ogres Get One-Run Win at Akron
|
Fans who gathered at Goodyear Hanger Dome saw a good contest between the Olympia Ogres and Akron Blimps.
The Ogres grabbed a win, 4-3, at Goodyear Hanger Dome, overcoming a fine effort from Akron pitcher Lance Mascola. Mascola went 8.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Ze-min Li nailed down his 12th save.
The result might have been different for Olympia, had it not been for Claudio Vargas. The shortstop produced a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Ogres ahead, 3-0. For the game, Vargas had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Akron manager Jared Gilbert said following the tough loss.
The Ogres improve their record to 34-56 with the win over Akron.
