Blimps Deal Ogres 6-2 Setback
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 22-year old center fielder Charlie Cummings, the Akron Blimps stopped the Olympia Ogres, 6-2. Akron reliever Wiley Washington picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bjorn Hondelink was saddled with the loss. Vicente López earned the save for Akron, his 1st of the year.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth when Cummings, who is tied for 2nd in the PAA in total bases with 161, hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Blimps into the lead, 2-0.
"Enjoyed this one," Cummings told the Akron Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The first-place Blimps have a one-game lead in their division.
