Shooters Squelch Screaming Eagles Offense in Shutout Win
|
Though he had a great game, Corey Ollerton could not single-handedly produce a win for Mercer Island. Springfield won the game, 6-0. Ollerton was named the player of the game. He went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Springfield reliever César González picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-2. Greg King was collared with the loss. Springfield's record now stands at 36-47, placing them 8th in the Premier AA.
Springfield relied on the bat of Dylan Stavely to get the win. The center fielder produced a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Shooters ahead, 2-0. For the game, Stavely had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We did a lot of things right," said Stavely.
