Sixshooters Sneak Past Palladium Sox, 5-4
|
The Sixshooters had to overcome a good performance from Virginia pitcher Tony Ruvenacht to claim a 5-4 win at Sixshooters Stadium. Ruvenacht went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Koswara Setiadji picked up the save, his 4th. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Westwood.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Derek Kelly came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Virginia pitcher Daryl Dwyer, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Westwood on top, 5-4.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Kelly told the Westwood Today.
