The Akron Blimps scored a 3-2 win versus the Chesapeake Continentals at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Akron pitcher Ismael Pérez nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Lorenzo Encarnación closed the door for Akron, picking up his 20th save of the year. Akron is now 50-32, 2˝ games up in the Premier AA.
Had Pedro Durán not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Durán hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blimps.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Akron skipper Jared Gilbert.
