Sixshooters Deal Continentals 4-2 Setback
|
The Chesapeake Continentals got a superb performance from pitcher Jake Newton. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Westwood. The Sixshooters won the game, 4-2. In spite of the loss, Newton was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. The win was credited to Finley Brinley in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Cakaraka Subramanya took the loss. Manny Rodríguez locked down his 14th save.
Westwood used the bat of Illarion Podmarkov to get the win. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sixshooters ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it did its damage.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Westwood manager .
The Sixshooters, at 42-39, sit in 5th place in the Premier AA.
