Mercer Island right-hander Nolan Owens was sensational in shutting out the Akron Blimps, 1-0. Mercer Island reliever Adrik Mihalushkin was the winner. His record is now 4-2. The losing pitcher was Oakland Scanlan. The Screaming Eagles bumped their record to 46-35 with this latest triumph.

Mercer Island took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, third baseman César Enríques hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Akron manager Jared Gilbert. "The effort was great."
