Shooters Win at Virginia, 8-1
|
Charles Ward left his imprint on the 8-1 Springfield win against the Virginia Palladium Sox. Ward, who is tied for 9th in the PAA in stolen bases with 13, went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. António Arellano, credited with the win, is now 5-5. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 6 innings. César González finished to wrap up his 4th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Springfield, had it not been for Bang Aang, the 23-year old shortstop . Aang contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put Springfield up, 3-1.
Said losing manager Will Thomas: "Give the Shooters credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
The Shooters sit in 8th place in the Premier AA with a record of 34-44.
