Blimps Get Win, Extend Streak to 5
|
Despite a great performance by Westwood designated hitter Illarion Podmarkov, the Akron Blimps defeated the Sixshooters by the score of 9-7 at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Podmarkov went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Akron reliever Henry Terry got the win, raising his record to 5-0. Tynan Brown was tagged with the loss. Akron has now won 5 straight.
Akron shortstop Roberto Ramos contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a forkball into right field for a 2-run single. It was his 59th hit of the season and put the Blimps ahead, 5-2.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Ramos, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
