Silver Sox Lose to Rainbow Mermaids, 7-4
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the Chicago Silver Sox, 7-4, at Silver Sox Park. Phil McCroskey was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The 30-year old center fielder was a menace to Chicago all day. Yoriyoshi Sugimoto earned the save for Northern Virginia, his 5th of the year. The Silver Sox fall to 5-11 and continue their lackluster start to the 2041 season.
McCroskey had a key at-bat for Northern Virginia early in the game. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and gave Northern Virginia an early 2-0 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister.
