Shuckers Stick Continentals with 6-3 Loss
|
Benefiting from Joël Pesci's productive game, the Biloxi Shuckers downed the Chesapeake Continentals, 6-3. Pesci slugged 2 home runs for the Shuckers. Fred Jerger got the win, improving to 5-6. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 3. With the win, Biloxi goes to 35-31, while the Continentals fall to 33-33.
Pesci came through with some timely hitting for Biloxi. With the score 1-1 in the bottom of the third and one down, Pesci hit a first pitch fastball for a solo home run. His 11th home run of the season made it 2-1, Biloxi.
"We played hard and won," said Pesci. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
