Ekkel Shines in Harbor Whales Win
|
The Greenport Harbor Whales relied on the hitting of left fielder Fabian Ekkel to stop the Northwest Territory Beavers, 6-3. For the game, Ekkel was 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Joshua Dobson picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 2-10. Tim Strong closed it out for his 13th save.
Ekkel came through with some timely hitting for Greenport. With the score 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth and two down, Ekkel hit a 0-1 fastball for a 2-run single. His 15th hit of the season made it 3-1, Greenport.
