Bowties Lose to Divided, 6-5
|
Buckhead left fielder Marcus Shill had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Shill was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2, even as D.C. beat the Bowties, 6-5. Shill was named the player of the game despite the loss. César Sandoval picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 2-0. Baker Mayfield was credited with the save for D.C., his 1st of the season.
The result might have been different for D.C., had it not been for Bill Butler. The right fielder produced a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Divided ahead, 4-3. For the game, Butler had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
In comments to the D.C. Daily News, Butler insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
The 5th-place Divided are now 23-25, the Bowties 29-19.
