Beavers Trip Harbor Whales in Extras
|
Ballard Beavers starter Mercedes Bvan was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Greenport Harbor Whales, 5-3. Paul Johnson, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Ballard is in third place in the Menard's R with a record of 12-9.
Ballard used the bat of Bill Bass to capture the win. The designated hitter jacked a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Beavers ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Greenport manager Austin Brown.
