Godard goes 4-for-5, Bowties Move to 24-16
Buckhead and Thunder Bay duked it out at Great Northern Field and the Bowties came out victorious.

The Buckhead Bowties knocked off the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 9-7, at Great Northern Field. Charles Godard, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Buckhead won. The right fielder went 4 for 5 with 3 doubles, while scoring 4 runs. Paul Haines, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed 7 runs on 9 hits in 5.1 innings.

Buckhead relied on the bat of Hugh Mungus to get the win. The third baseman ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bowties ahead, 6-5. For the game, Mungus had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Mungus told the Buckhead Chronicle. "You win just by scoring more runs."

With the victory, the Bowties record now stands at 24-16.
