The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople defeated the Valley View Cougars, 4-2, in USSL Rookie action at The Igloo, with Ellesmere Island pitcher Ikaia Duncalf named player of the game. Duncalf, now 9-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Danny Antonio got the save, his 10th in 12 chances.

The Snowpeople got a big at-bat from third baseman Red Greene. For the game, Greene went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 41st hit of the season gave Ellesmere Island a 3-2 lead.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Greene told reporters after the game.

With the win, the Snowpeople have a record of 40-45.
