Beavers Stick Beavers with 3-1 Loss
|
Ballard played host to Northwest Territory at the friendly confines of Field of the Sunchasers.
Ballard got a first-rate effort from pitcher Tom Simon, who frustrated Northwest Territory hitters en route to a 3-1 Beavers triumph at Field of the Sunchasers. In 7 innings, Simon surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Kjeld Burger earned the save for Ballard, his 2nd of the year.
Tizimín, Mexico-born Jorge Peniche came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Beavers trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run double to right to put Ballard on top.
"We've got a great group of guys," Peniche said, "and we're having fun right now."
With the win, Ballard boosts its record to 5-2.
