John Ellis never let Surprise get something going. The Franklin left-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Fire to a 4-1 win. Kwan-yew Khu converted his 3rd save in 6 tries. The third-place Fire improved to 41-31.

Kenny Benson put Franklin in front, 3-1, when he hit a solo home run off Jonathan Vega in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 4th home run of the season.

"We did a lot of things right," said Benson.
