Cougars Drop Another One
|
Franklin rode a good effort from starter John Ellis to beat the Valley View Cougars at Lawmen Ballpark. The final score was 3-2. The winning pitcher was Ellis, now 7-2. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Fepiku Alewina notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
Richard Fowler had a big 2-run single for the Fire in the bottom of the first inning. With Franklin leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a forkball from Dave Davis and stroked the single to center. It was his 50th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Fire ahead, 3-0.
Afterward, Fire manager Mark Davis was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Valley View, at 40-27, has lost 5 straight.
