Fire Topple Interns with Late Rally
|
The Franklin Fire beat the Capital Hill Interns, 7-5, at Lawmen Ballpark. Franklin catcher Richard Fowler earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Franklin reliever Jian-ying Yep picked up the win to move to 3-4. Theodosio Brederode suffered the loss. Jun-soo P'il finished the game for Franklin and earned his 2nd save.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Christopher Tracy came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Capital Hill pitcher Zier Kenselaar, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Franklin on top, 7-5.
In postgame comments to the Franklin Daily, Tracy said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Capital Hill has now lost 4 in a row.
