Shockers Beat Snowpeople, 7-4
|
Surprise and Ellesmere Island duked it out at The Igloo and the Shockers came out victorious.
Ellesmere Island third baseman Red Greene had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-4, to Surprise at The Igloo. Greene was 2 for 4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Cole Ash got the win, improving to 2-5. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1.
Surprise shortstop Cory Blatchford helped the Shockers to the win. In the top of the fifth inning, the 19-year old shortstop stroked a run-scoring triple. For the game, Blatchford went 2 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Blatchford said.
The Shockers raised their record to 24-30.
