Baby Blues Win at Ladue, 5-2
|
The Quebec City Baby Blues knocked off the Ladue Rams, 5-2, at Ballpark of Wellsville. Kalino Iolana, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Quebec City won. The shortstop was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times. Ronald Fritz got the win, improving to 2-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. The Baby Blues improve their record to 31-21 with the win over Ladue.
Quebec City used the timely hitting of Manuel Valle to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Baby Blues on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I thought we played a nice game," Iolana told the Quebec City Gazette. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
